MOREE small business Polished Nail Spa’s new location on Heber Street has a vibrant, refreshed look, thanks to a $5000 grant under Moree Plains Shire Council’s Small Business Fund 2025.
Polished Nail Spa owner Angela Kelehear used the grant to help offset the cost of custom signage to complete her relocation to a larger, more prominent space on Heber Street.
“Getting the grant from council was really good. Obviously, the expense of opening a new salon is quite high so the opportunity to get the small business grant to do the shop frontage and signage was a great help,” Angela said.
“It wouldn’t look as good otherwise, or I would not have been able to do it immediately – I would’ve had to do it in stages.”
Angela recruited another local, Zac McKenzie from In Line Signs, to design and create the new signage.

“It’s good to support another local small business as well,” Angela said.
“Zac helped me with the signs, and pretty much had a free run with the design, using the colour scheme I gave him.
“I tweaked it a little bit, but Zac pretty much came up with the final design,” she said.
Moree Plains Shire mayor Susannah Pearse said the Small Business Fund aims to encourage and financially support positive economic activity that will contribute to the growth and liveability of the Shire.
“We have now funded upgrades to two shopfronts on this particular stretch of Heber Street, making a significant impact to not just those businesses but also the visual appeal of our CBD,” Cr Pearse said.
Polished Nail Spa was formerly at premises on Balo Street before Angela decided to relocate to Heber Street, where she sits next door to a beautician and hairdresser.
“There is more street frontage and a bigger space – it’s a good little spot,” she said.
Small business owners can benefit from a cash injection of up to $5000 through Moree Plains Shire Council’s Small Business Fund.
