MOREE Services FC players are back in training and preparing to defend their premiership title in the 2026 Namoi League football competition.
The 20-round season, with five teams each playing a series of round robins, starts Saturday, April 18, with a Moree Yellow versus Moree Blue local derby from 2.30pm at Moree Services Club sporting fields.
Moree Services FC president Sam Adams said the club is still buoyed by last year’s 2-1 grand-final win against Narrabri FC Elevens at Narrabri’s Hogan Oval.
“For our club the win was really positive. It shows we can strike a balance between being competitive, while also being inclusive and supportive of younger players,” Adams said.
“Both teams this year will have a competitive desire to win back-to-back premierships.

“We’re somewhat confident, and we strive to maintain a competitive balance between our teams and a balance between social and competitive football,” he said.
Adams said Moree Services FC, sponsored and supported by Moree Services Club, TMH Plumbing, K&H Plant Repairs, McDonalds Moree, Garah Pub, Whiddon and DD’s Engineering, was ready to field two teams.
“Each year, our teams get rebalanced. The team core is still there, but some player changes are necessary to ensure we have two competitive teams,” he said.
“This means our best 11 players in the club aren’t necessarily all on one team, but it’s essential to support the club overall and to support grassroots soccer in our region.”
There are plenty of old faces pulling on jerseys, with new players stepping up from the Moree junior soccer ranks.
“We have 13 junior players currently, and that means about five new players coming through,” Adams said.
He said the club is always looking for new blood, with training sessions held every Sunday from 5pm at the Moree Services Club sporting fields, behind the club’s all-weather lawn bowls venue.
“Anyone interested in joining Moree FC can rock up to training Sunday afternoons – we’re usually in the swing of a training match by around half-past five,” Adams said.

Happy to read that you’re striving for a ‘balanced’ mix of players in each team. And i assume that the Moree team which won the premiership last year DOES NOT comprise the same players!! Is that correct??
While it’s great to strive to win it’s also extremely wise to share skills & knowledge with younger players joining the club. If both teams aren’t competitive AND ENJOYING PLAYING I think some team members will get very disillusioned & down hearted quite early into the season.
Best wishes to BOTH EQUALLY BALANCED TEAMS.
