Moree Bulls will bring one of Central North rugby’s fiercest rivalries back to Weebolla Oval this weekend, returning to the ground where they stunned Narrabri Blue Boars in Round One.
The Bulls beat Narrabri 36-22 at Weebolla Oval in April, landing an opening-day statement against one of the competition’s strongest clubs. This Saturday, the Blue Boars come back to Moree for a Round Thirteen showdown loaded with recent history and home-ground pride.
The fixture will be held at Moree Rugby Club, Weebolla Oval, Inverell Road, Moree, on Saturday, July 4, with gates opening at 11am and four grades of rugby to be played across the afternoon.
Third grade will start at 11.30am, followed by the women’s game at 12.50pm, second grade at 1.50pm and first grade at 3.15pm.
The club has marked the home game as Mental Health Round.
The Bulls also took the points in reserve grade when the clubs met in Round One, beating Narrabri 22-7.
Narrabri will arrive with plenty to prove after that opening-round result and with fresh confidence from a 43-36 win over Tamworth Pirates last weekend.
Moree, meanwhile, will be looking for a hard home response after a 46-21 away loss to Quirindi.
The women’s game also shapes as a blockbuster. Moree is coming off a ruthless 70-0 shutout against Quirindi, while Narrabri enters the round after a strong 33-15 win over the Pirates.
Moree and Narrabri have carried a fierce rugby rivalry for years, with recent meetings giving both clubs plenty to play for. The Bulls and Blue Boars played out a 25-all draw at Dangar Park in 2023, one year after another draw between the same clubs.
Narrabri also beat Moree 31-27 in the 2024 first-grade grand final at Dangar Park, a result that still gives this fixture plenty of bite whenever the two clubs meet.
Saturday’s match day will include canteen and bar facilities.
After full-time, the day will roll into a Saturday night club event, with The Contingency Plan playing live from 7pm.
A courtesy bus will run from 6pm, and the club has advised there will be a lockout from 6pm for non-members.
Moree Bulls v Narrabri Blue Boars will be played at Moree Rugby Club, Weebolla Oval, Inverell Road, Moree, on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
