Rhodes Kildea and Rabbit Hop Films collected wins in this week’s hockey action, with the two victories coming in different fashion.
Rhodes Kildea opened strongly against Cogan Agronomy, with Caleb Mitchell finding the back of the net inside the first five minutes to give his side an early advantage.
Cogan Agronomy stayed in the contest and levelled the scores late in the second quarter through Guy Bayley, leaving the sides locked at 1-1 approaching the halfway stage.
After the break, Rhodes Kildea began to gain traction in their forward line and took control of the match. Max Mitchell scored twice, while Caleb Mitchell added his second goal of the game to complete a 4-1 victory.
The second match between Dave’s Platinum Tinting and Rabbit Hop Films developed into a much tighter contest.
Rabbit Hop Films applied plenty of pressure through a dominant forward line, but Dave’s defence proved difficult to break down, turning away several dangerous chances and keeping the match scoreless for an extended period.
Rabbit Hop Films eventually found a way through when team captain Sascha Estens produced an excellent finish to give her side a 1-0 lead.
For much of the remaining match, that looked likely to be the final margin as Dave’s continued to defend strongly. Rabbit Hop Films had one last say, however, with Sam McNiven finding the net with just 15 seconds remaining to seal a 2-0 victory.
