Fred #0 will take a two-point lead in the Modified Mud Bomb of the Year standings into the Pally Mud Trials at Pallamallawa this Sunday, August 23.
Fred sits on 14 points, just two clear of Liddle Deviot #3 on 12, setting up another battle between the pair at the Pallamallawa Recreation Grounds.
Competition gets underway from 8.30am, with Modified, Buggy, Standard and Junior competitors chasing Mud Bomb of the Year titles and a share of $6,000 in prize money.
There are close contests elsewhere in the field. Outlaw leads the Buggy standings on 10 points, one ahead of The Hazin, while Psycotic and Look Don’t Touch are tied at the top of the Standard class on seven points.
Daughter of the Devil holds the biggest lead of the four classes, sitting on 13 points in the Junior division ahead of Child Support on six.
Junior drivers range in age from 10 to 16, adding another element to a day of cars and buggies taking on the Pallamallawa mud.
Entry is $12 for adults, while children under 12 can enter for a gold coin donation. A barbecue and canteen will operate at the grounds throughout the event.
Once competition wraps up, presentations for the day’s events will be held at the Pally Pub.
Those heading to the presentations are being reminded they must be clean before entering the pub and cannot arrive still covered in mud. The Pally Pub is also a sponsor of this year’s event.
The Pally Mud Trials begin at 8.30am this Sunday, August 23 at the Pallamallawa Recreation Grounds.
