Mungindi Municipal Pool will close for three weeks from Monday as Moree Plains Shire Council deals with staffing constraints and scheduled staff leave.
The pool will be closed from Monday, September 7 to Monday, September 28. Council is also seeking additional casual staff for the Mungindi facility to provide weekend shifts and cover periods of leave.
Council currently has one qualified staff member at the pool and is looking to build additional casual coverage.
Importantly, applicants do not need to already hold a lifeguard qualification. Council has said it will fund and organise the required lifeguard training and certification for suitable applicants.
Candidates should have a strong work ethic, good communication and customer service skills, and be friendly and approachable. They must also be able to work independently as the sole operator on shift, remain calm and make decisions during emergencies or other high-pressure situations, and be flexible to work weekends.
Applicants need, or must be willing to obtain, a First Aid Certificate, NSW Class C driver licence and NSW Working with Children Check.
The casual work has previously included eight-hour shifts on Fridays and Saturdays during summer, and 4.5 hours on Saturdays and three hours on Sundays during winter, with additional weekend and leave coverage as required.
