Everybody Wins

Moree Christmas spin-and-win offers more than $20,000 worth of prizes

Dec 4, 2024

CHRISTMAS shoppers are encouraged to spend to “spin-and-win” at participating retailers across the Moree shire, with more than $20,000 worth of prizes and “artesian dollars” up for grabs – and every ticket holder wins.

The Spend to Spin and Win promotion, launched this week by Moree and District Chamber of Commerce, is in full swing, and will run until Saturday, December 14.

When customers spend $50 or more in one of 36 participating stores, they receive an entry to spin for a prize, Chamber president Dibs Cush said.

“We have more than $20,000 worth of prizes, with $10,000 in ‘artesian dollars’, sponsored by Moree Plains Shire Council,” Dibs said.

“Artesian dollars is ‘Moree money’ that can be spent in participating businesses until December 31. “There’s also $7500 worth of gift vouchers to be won and plenty of lucky-dip prizes, with many of our Moree businesses being super-generous.

“Every person that brings an entry card to the draw and spins, wins a prize. They will win either artesian dollars, a gift voucher from one of our participating businesses or a lucky-dip prize.

“Lucky-dip prizes can range from a pair of sock covers to a watch valued at $250 – we’ve got some really great prizes,” she said.

Win-and-spin dates are Saturday, December 7 and Saturday, December 14 from 9am until midday on Balo Street near Social Co House.

Moree and District Chamber of Commerce president, Dibs Cush, with some artesian dollars, part of the spin-to-win Christmas promotion.

“It’s a bit of a cliché, and everyone knows they should shop locally, but the reality is, if they don’t use it, they’ll lose it,” Dibs said.

“When people shop locally, it has a multiplier effect, and more of the money stays in the community. “It’s the local businesses, not the big online stores, that support our local sporting clubs, charities and fundraising efforts.

“The spin-and-win promotion is a chance for the community to return the favour and say thanks, all while helping create a vibrant local economy,” she said.

Thursday night shopping is also back on the Christmas calendar, commencing this week, December 5, to coincide with switching on the town Christmas at Moree War Memorial Hall on Balo Street.

Entertainment will be provided by Moree’s String Section ukelele group, and new kids on the block, SAXappeal.

“The Lions Club will bring along their famous barbeque and there will also be some cool treats available to purchase,” Dibs said.
