NOMINATIONS are now open for the 2025 Australia Day Awards, a chance to honour and celebrate remarkable individuals and community groups who have made significant contributions to the Moree Plains.

Mayor Susannah Pearse is calling on residents to support the awards by nominating those who have gone above and beyond to enrich the community.

“We are fortunate to have so many passionate individuals and local clubs that dedicate their time and energy to the Moree Plains,” Cr Pearse said.

“Now is the time to shine a light on our region’s inspirational and unsung heroes by submitting nominations for the 2025 Australia Day Awards.”

Residents can submit nominations for the following categories:

Citizen of the Year (over 25 years);

Young Citizen of the Year (aged 16-25 years);

Community Event of the Year;

Community/Volunteer Group of the Year;

Sports Person of the Year;

Young Sports Person of the Year; and

Volunteer of the Year

A big crowd attended the Australia Day Awards at Jellicoe Park earlier this year.

The 2025 Australia Day Award nominations are open until 5pm, Friday, January 10, 2025.

They can be completed online or for a hardcopy head to Council’s Customer Service, Level 2, 30 Heber Street, Moree.
