Caravan roll-over north of Moree

Dec 30, 2024

TWO people were conveyed to Moree Hospital with minor injuries after a four-wheel-drive towing a caravan rolled over north of Moree on the Newell Highway at about 9.30am Monday.

Traffic was affected in both directions.

Emergency Services and Transport for NSW maintenance crews attended, with NSW Police conducting alternating stop-slow traffic flow to allow motorists to pass in one direction at a time.

Motorists are asked to reduce speed and exercise caution in the area.

Firefighters from Moree Rural Fire Brigade and Croppa Creek Rural Fire Brigade attended the accident, which had blocked both sides of the highway.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Command NSW Police Force quickly restored traffic flow and rural fire services assisted cleaning up the area as well as maintaining safety until a tow truck arrived.

The accident occurred near Buckie Road, about 80 kilometres north of Moree.

In November, two people died in a truck crash in the same area, when a B-double truck rolled over and caught alight and a motor vehicle accident occurred near the same spot in February.

Meanwhile, the Australian Government has launched the Safer Driving Starts with You road safety campaign to remind and reinforce safe driving behaviours.

The campaign will run until April 15 next year to reiterate the importance of safe driving and aims to reinforce the importance of road safety for all drivers and remind people that everyone has a role to play in reducing crashes, injuries and fatalities on the roads.
