BINIGUY Park will soon sport a new look with funding from the Local Small Commitments Allocation Program heading its way.

Moree Plains Shire Council were successful with an application for $60,000 to upgrade the facilities at the park.

The funding will be used to install picnic tables and upgrade the play equipment to give the park a refresh.

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan welcomed the funding.

“Biniguy is a small, close-knit community and the town is often a stop for people travelling along the Gwydir Highway,” Mr Moylan said.

“The park’s current facilities are aging and outdated. Having the park upgraded will offer a more relaxing and enjoyable experience for travellers as well as providing a safe and modern space for the local community to use.

“Congratulations to the Moree Plains Shire Council for securing funding from the Local Small Commitments Allocation program to give Biniguy Park a much-needed transformation.”

Moree Plains Shire Council mayor Susannah Pearse said making improvements to the smaller villages around the district was high on the priority list for council.

“Biniguy Park has been identified as being near end of life and this generous funding provided the perfect opportunity to complete this much needed project,” Cr Pearse said.

“The small, tight-knit community of Biniguy and surrounds will benefit from this much needed upgrade as well as travellers entering the Moree Plains Shire.

“The planned upgrades include picnic seating and the removal and replacement of the deteriorating play equipment.

“This project will provide safe and modern facilities to enhance community wellbeing.”

Moree Plains Shire Council’s open spaces team is looking after the project and they aim to complete it during the 2025-2026 financial year.
