ASSEF’S Moree has expanded the shopping experience for locals and visitors with the addition of a toy section, stocked with many brand-names new to the district.
The Toy Corner opened recently – and the response has been incredible, manager Daniel Assef said.
“We’ve had a lot of people come through the new store – we now offer toys on one side of the arcade and kitchenware on the other,” Daniel smiled.
Daniel and staff have in recent months been busy re-organising and restocking a dedicated space at the back of the store.
The area, once part of Assef’s Arcade that was opened up and reformatted to allow store expansion, is now stocked with toys and board games for toddlers, children, teenagers and adults.
Customers looking for kitchenware and homewares need not look too far, either. Sitty’s Spoon has moved a few steps away to the opposite side of the arcade – ironically where a toy store once traded back in the 1970s and 1980s.
“We thought moving Sitty’s Spoon to the opposite side of the arcade was the best option, and have rearranged things a little,” Daniel said.
“We’ve opened up a doorway so there’s now direct access to Sitty’s Spoon. There’s also now an easier flow of foot traffic through this section of the store.”
Daniel, who manages the Assef’s brand in Moree with his mother Keryn, said The Toy Corner will offer specialty products and names new to Moree.
“Our aim is to stock ranges and brands that aren’t already available in Moree,” he said.
“There are products here for children, teenagers and adults as well as board games, chess games and craft activities.
“There are also lots of toys and fun products as well as scooters and outdoor merchandise.
“We’re trying to find products that are a little different and new to Moree,” he said.
Assef’s Moree, established 87 years ago in Heber Street before moving to its current location in 1940, has expanded in size and merchandise options in recent years.
Sitty’s Spoon, offering quality kitchenware, tableware and cookware from major brands, was established about 10 years ago and now The Toy Corner adds to Assef’s vast range of clothing, footwear, hats, workwear and activewear.
“After the closure of a few toy stores in town in the last 12 to 18 months, we recognised a gap in the market and the need for this type of product in Moree,” Daniel said.
