THE Classic and Specialist Car Club of Northern NSW, based in Armidale, will host the Heritage Motor Clubs Autumn Tour Rally early next month.

The rally is open to cars built before 1931.

Previously held in the central-west area of New South Wales, this is the first time the tour has ventured out of that area.

The rally, capped at 150 cars, occurs over three days and visits as many of the districts attractions as can be fitted in and concludes with a dinner for about 300 people.

Additionally, National Trust of NSW supports the rally and it is through the Trust the public is encouraged to participate by visiting the many sites where the cars are on display at various locations, including Saumarez Homestead, Chandler School and the Uralla Showground.

The Classic and Specialist Car Club in Armidale was formed in 1976, originally for the purpose of providing clubmanship for members drawn from across northern New South Wales.

As clubs were subsequently formed in the various towns in the region, the catchment area for the club was reduced to an 80km radius of Armidale.

The club is dedicated to the preservation and use of rare and unusual veteran and classic vehicles at least 30 years old.

Autumn Tour Rally

May 1: 10am to 5pm at Saumarez Homestead, 230 Saumarez Road (enter via airport).

May 2: 10am departure from Armidale racecourse (Barney Street) with display between 11am and 4pm at Chandler School (Waterfall Way, Wollomombi).

May 3: 10am drive to Uralla Showground followed by  an 11am drive to Deeargee and Gostwyck Chapel (Gostwyck Road, Uralla). At 12.30pm there will be lunch at Uralla Central School (24 Park Street, Uralla) followed by a display on Bridge Street, Uralla, between 1.30pm and 4pm.
