World-renowned pianist, Simon Tedeschi, will perform at Bank Art Museum Moree, launching a huge Moree on a Plate weekend.
Tedeschi, one of Australia’s most celebrated classical pianists, will deliver an intimate solo concert showcasing his ‘masterful technique’, with a repertoire including Schubert, Debussy, Chopin, Gershwin and more.
Tedeschi will perform on the gallery’s baby grand piano on Friday, May 9, with BAMM director Rosie Dennis expecting a truly special evening.
“BAMM is thrilled to welcome Simon to Moree to warm our baby grand piano,” Ms Dennis said.
“It is wonderful to have artists of Simon’s calibre perform in Moree. World-class cultural experiences elevate the vibrancy of a place, create a sense of pride and bring the community together.”
With emotionally powerful music resounding throughout the gallery, and artworks by iconic Australian artist, Elisabeth Cummings, gracing the walls, Tedeschi’s empowering presence promises to be a cultural highlight of the year.
Acclaimed by respected critics and peers as ‘true greatness’, Tedeschi performed his first Mozart piano concerto in the Sydney Opera House at age nine.
He’s the recipient of many prizes, has performed in major concert halls and at festivals worldwide. He’s also played for world leaders, including former US President George W Bush and the Dalai Lama. Tedeschi performs as soloist with all the major Australian orchestras, as well as Christchurch Symphony Orchestra from New Zealand, and with classical chamber and jazz collaborators in leading festivals.

World-renowned pianist, Simon Tedeschi, will perform at Bank Art Museum Moree on Friday, May 9.
The intimate Simon Tedeschi concert, the second event in the BAMM Concert Series, is planned to coincide with Moree on a Plate and just in time for Mother’s Day.
“It’s a perfect weekend to visit Moree, listen to breathtaking music and see some beautiful art, and then go and graze at one of regional Australia’s premier food and wine festivals,” Ms Dennis said.
Simon Tedeschi will perform on Friday, May 9 at 7pm at the BAMM Gallery.
Tickets are $59 each + booking fee, available at www.bamm.org.au or https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1354410
Also exhibiting at BAMM is Elisabeth Cummings’ In Her Own Time, which features a selection of works that showcase her bold use of colour, dynamic mark-making and deep connection to the Australian landscape.
In Her Own Time is a remarkable series of works spanning half a century of Elisabeth Cummings’ distinguished career.
The work celebrates the artist’s bold use of colour, dynamic mark-making and deep connection to the Australian landscape – all while offering an intimate insight into the breadth of her practice, embracing her personal life, travels and landscapes.
Moree on a Plate is a celebration of regional produce, yet the festival is just one of myriad opportunities visitors have to enjoy Moree’s hospitality over the Mothers’ Day weekend.
The Moree Gallery, one of regional Australia’s most highly respected regional galleries on Thursday, May 8 launches a special exhibition featuring paintings by Jennifer Newton and hand-painted ceramics by Kirsty McIntyre.
A Sydney-based artist creating original ceramic pieces, Jennifer’s decorative and practical ceramics are all handmade, either slab-built or formed on the wheel, using white earthenware clay.
Irregular in shape, and tending to feature bold, strong colour patterns, Jennifer’s pieces are individual and eye-catching.
Kirsty McIntyre is a Melbourne-based artist working mainly with palette knife and oil paint on canvas, with Australian-themed still life subjects, and the backyard birds that visit her compositions.
The exhibition opens at 10am on Thursday, May 8, with drinks at the gallery from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. All artworks may be viewed in the gallery or online at The Moree Gallery.
