FEDERAL Nationals Member Elect for Parkes, Jamie Chaffey, has congratulated David Littleproud on his re-election as party leader.
Mr Chaffey also congratulated newly-appointed deputy leader Kevin Hogan and Senator Bridget McKenzie on her re-election as Leader of The Nationals in the Senate.
“Senator Matthew Canavan also put up his hand for the Leadership, and although he was unsuccessful today, he stood up for what he believes in,” Mr Chaffey said.
“Senator Susan McDonald was also unsuccessful in her bid for Deputy Leader but I have no doubt both Matt and Susan will continue to be strong voices in the Nationals’ Party Room.
The Liberal Party also selected a new leadership team, with Sussan Ley elected Leader of the Opposition, and Ted O’Brien elected new Deputy Leader.
“Congratulations to both Sussan and Ted on their new roles and I wish them all the best, because the country needs a strong Opposition to hold the Labor Government to account, which is what I plan to do for the people of the Parkes electorate,” Mr Chaffey said.
“I’m proud to be a member of The National Party, with more than 100 years serving regional New South Wales.
“I’m looking forward to the polls being declared by the Australian Electoral Commission so I can get on with the job of representing the great people of the Parkes electorate,” he said.

Mr Littleproud said in a media statement, he was honoured to be elected as Leader of The Nationals.
“I am humbled to serve my Party and my colleagues, but most importantly, the people of Australia,” Mr Littleproud said.
“Around the country, families are still facing the same cost-of-living challenges, and it is a privilege to be elected as Leader and have the opportunity to make real change.
“I am proud of my legacy as Leader over the last three years, championing the opposition to the Voice, and fighting for nuclear energy and supermarket divestiture powers.
“The Nationals also returned all of our House of Representatives Members in this election.
“I congratulate new Deputy Leader Kevin Hogan and The Nationals’ Leader in the Senate Bridget McKenzie. Both Kevin and Bridget are not just great leaders, but great friends, and I am proud to be able to work with them.
“I also acknowledge Senator Perin Davey and her work as Deputy Leader last term,” he said.
