As of July 1, I am proud to officially take over as the new owner and editor of Moree Online News.
First, I want to say a sincere thank you to Bill and Cindy Poulos. Bill started Moree Online News in 2024 and, in a short time, built something that has become part of the daily life of Moree Plains. He has worked hard to report local news, sport, community stories and events, seven days a week. He has given Moree and the wider district a dedicated local news service.
Bill and Cindy deserve real credit for creating that foundation, and I am grateful for the chance to build on it.
For readers, the main message from me is simple: Moree Online News is continuing. Local news, sport, community updates and practical information will remain at the heart of the website. The name, the purpose and the commitment to Moree Plains are not changing.
Moree Online News will also remain free to read. There are no plans to put local news behind a paywall. That is only possible because of the support of local businesses, advertisers, contributors and readers who value having a dedicated local news service.
To everyone already supporting Moree Online News, thank you. Your continued support keeps local news available to everyone. If you are in a position to help, we would be grateful. Advertising, sponsorship, contributions, story tips and sharing stories with others all keep Moree Online News strong.
Local news and sport will remain central, but I also want to make it easier for people to find events, jobs, real estate, business listings, school updates, community notices and other everyday information in one place.
I have lived in Moree for almost 10 years, and I care deeply about this place. My goal is to help share more stories from right across Moree Plains, from villages and farms to schools, clubs, businesses and community groups.
If there is something happening where you are, please let us know. Not every tip will become a story, but every message helps us understand what people need to know.
And to you, reading this now, thank you. Whether you have followed Moree Online News from the beginning or found it more recently, I appreciate you being here. I hope you keep reading, keep sharing what matters to you, and keep helping this local news service grow.
